Code 128 code set C start barCode 128 barcodes can be one of three varieties. One is Code 128 code set C. The difference between the three code sets is the character set that they can encode. In other words, each of the Code 128 barcode code sets can represent different types of data.

Code 128 code set C barcodes are numeric only. Each character in a code set C barcode represents a pair of digits, 00-99. This means that code set C barcodes are compact and take up less room left to right compared to the same string in code set A or B. They are almost half as wide as the equivalent code set A or B symbol because of this 2:1 compression of input characters to barcode glyphs.

If the original input string is an odd number of characters long, a leading zero is added to make the string an even number of digits long.
